Quick Guide to B***chin’ Skin

Salon Tease Beautiful Skin

Everyone wants that perfect, even, glowing skin – right? Then you look at yourself in the mirror, do a deep sigh and resign yourself to think that it can never be attained. Not necessarily true. There are ways that you can easily improve the quality, tone and texture of your skin – and some of it is not as expensive as you think.

I can not stress this one enough – wear your sunscreen.  Sun exposure causes most of the skin changes that we think of as a normal part of aging. Over time, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) light damages the fibers in the skin called elastin. When these fibers break down, the skin begins to sag, stretch, and lose its ability to go back into place after stretching. The skin also bruises and tears more easily — taking longer to heal. So while sun damage to the skin may not be apparent when you’re young, it will definitely show later in life.

Nothing can completely undo sun damage, although the skin can sometimes repair itself. So, it’s never too late to begin protecting yourself from the sun.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends that everyone apply a sunscreen with an SPF30 every day, and an SPF50 before participating in outdoor activities.

The number means that it would take 30 times longer to burn than not wearing any sunscreen. That means if it would take a minute to burn without sunscreen, it would take 30 minutes to burn after applying the recommended amount of SPF30.  This is usually adequate for low levels of sun exposure.

Also, please apply the sunscreen at least 15 minutes BEFORE going outside – let the sunscreen “sink in” so to speak. Finally – sunscreen does expire like milk, last year’s sunscreen will not be effective. Please keep it fresh!

I’m sorry to tell you this – but your mother was right. You do need to wash your face. When I worked for Estee Lauder they used to tell us that every night you don’t wash your face , your face ages 7 days…..kinda weird, right? Not quite sure if it is true – but it sure made me wash my face.

Having clean skin is a vital step in healthy skin. It whisks away all foreign debris and it keeps it from congregating in our pores. In addition to fresh, clean skin – exfoliation. This is where we can slough off the outermost layer of “dead” skin. This ensures that nothing “icky” is hiding beneath those dead skin layers and it polishes and can clean out pores.

Let’s talk about a different way of hydrating besides drinking water and applying a lotion. Let’s chat about hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the connective tissue of your skin. It helps your skin hold on to moisture and promotes collagen and elastin in the skin. All good things!!!

There is nothing wrong about getting a little help from the pros 😉

Let’s start with facials – when received regularly, a facial massage can result in noticeable improvements to skin tone, texture & appearance. A proper facial massage can also restore the skin’s normal balance of oil and pH. Additionally, temporary results may include heightened skin softness & pliancy, increased circulation of blood to the face & an overall soothing of the spirit. As an added bonus, most people find receiving a professional facial to be exceptionally relaxing.

Next, peels! Chemical peels are typically used to restore a youthful, vibrant appearance to wrinkly, blotchy, sun-damaged skin. There are three main types of chemical face peels, and each has unique benefits for the skin. The light chemical peel improves acne scars and skin texture, and reduces the effects of sun damage. Themedium chemical peel improves acne as well. The medium peel also smoothes fine surface wrinkles, and corrects pigment problems such as age spots. The deep chemical peel helps treat sun-damaged skin, eliminates deep, coarse wrinkles, and can remove pre-cancerous growths.

Finally, botox. Botox makes you look younger. Sold! Do I even need to tell you any other functions before you head out of the door to get your Botox job? Jokes aside, Botox has many benefits which has taken it to the popularity levels it has today. Besides the technical jargon that you can read online about chemical composition, medical terms, blah, blah… let’s keep it straight and simple. Injections of Botox are suited for people like you and me who want to see benefits of plastic surgery, without the complications and hassle. I mean, of course you’d prefer a quick injection over spending a day under the knife.
